Many researchers and specialists strongly believe that plaque is the primary cause of gum disease. Plaque is a bacteria that creates a film on our teeth and gums. It is formed when sugars and starches in our food merge with the already existing bacteria that is in our mouths. If permitted to stay on your teeth for extended periods of time, it can easily harden underneath the gum line, developing a tartar build-up.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implementing proper brushing and flossing techniques at home is necessary for combating plaque build up, but only a professional dental cleaning can clear away tartar completely.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
