Did you know that many diseases and conditions first show signs in the mouth?
It has been proven that your oral health effects your overall health. Maintaining optimal dental health is a critically important factor in your overall health. At Jerome Faist, DDS, we like to say that a healthy mouth means a healthy body and keeping our patients the healthiest they can be is our passion.
Typically, Dr. Faist recommends you have dental check ups two times within a one year time span at his dental office in Beachwood, OH. Having regular dental check ups will help us to spot problems before they become more serious and more painful, not to mention more costly situations. If you have taken exceptional care of your teeth and gums, you can speak with Dr. Faist about extending the time period between your visits to longer than our recommended every six months.
You are great dentist and you have wonderful team. You saved my and my wife’s teeth. You have been my dentist for over 20 years. I am living now 100 miles away and even though I have plenty of dentists close to me, I still want you to be my dentist.
A typical wellness visit at the office of Jerome L. Faist, DDS:
At your visit, one of our dental hygienists will review your medical history to note any conditions that may have an effect on your oral health, take your blood pressure, and identify any concerns you may have. In addition, your hygienist will take any necessary digital x-rays to check for cavities, nerve damage and any bone loss. Once a year he or she will evaluate your periodontal health and check for periodontal disease (or gum disease).
According to the Centers for Disease Control, one out of every two Americans has periodontal disease. The health of your gums and the bone beneath is the supporting structure of your teeth and it is something we watch very carefully in all of our patients.
Finally, your hygienist will floss, clean and polish your teeth before your dental exam with Dr. Faist.
Dr. Faist will review the findings from your visit with your hygienist, perform an initial dental exam, as well as an oral cancer screening. If necessary, Dr. Faist will discuss options for any dental treatment you may need.
Your visit will conclude with a goodie bag from Dr. Faist consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss to keep your smile looking the best as can be.
