Dental Health During Summer Part 2

July 5, 2018

Summer is a great time to spend your days and nights outdoors with friends and family. These parties can be a lot of fun, but they can also create issues for your mouth if you’re not careful. If you’re having people over, here are some great ways to keep everyone’s mouth healthy.

Snacks
Rather than laying out sugary snacks or chips, replace these snacks with a mouth-healthy vegetable tray.

Ice
Drinking a cold drink on a hot day is always enjoyable. However, chewing on ice cubes is one of the worst things you can do to your teeth. To keep your drinks cold, keep them in a cooler with ice rather than placing ice cubes in the drinks. If you do need to use ice, be sure to crush the cubes up into smaller pieces.

Water
Dehydration is a serious problem, especially during the summer months. Be sure to keep plenty of water around for your guests.

Toothpicks
It’s annoying when something gets caught between your teeth, but toothpicks can easily poke your gums or even break in your mouth if you’re not careful. Instead of toothpicks, keep a supply of dental picks on hand.

Feel free to schedule an appointment with Dr. Faist in Beachwood, OH if you’re due for a cleaning or have any concerns about the health of your mouth.
