Periodontal (Gum) Disease: Common Symptoms

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a serious gum infection which damages the soft tissue and ruins the bone that supports your teeth. This disease can cause some serious health issues if not properly treated. Tooth loss, increased risk of heart attack and stroke are possible health issues that can occur.

It is important to know that there are a few different kinds of periodontal disease. Chronic periodontal disease is the most common form. This form of gum disease is mostly found in adults but kids can still be affected.
